District dished out more money

WESLACO – After The Advance published a story last week (April 13) about Weslaco ISD spending a million dollars (equal to a thousand gift baskets each stuffed with $1,000) on sexual harassment training for school staff last January, in which we mentioned that the district violated the government code with regard to the way it posted notice of a public hearing (a month after the fact), according to the district’s own minutes, we got a call from an interested reader.
“The Weslaco school district does know how to properly post public hearings after all,” he said, asking that his name remain private. He then pointed The Advance to the district’s special called meeting of Sept. 29.
