SAN JUAN — Severa “Chavelita” Ordoñez, 93, died Monday, March 21, 2016. Born in McAllen, she had lived in San Juan most of her life. Chavelita was an active parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish, where she was a member of the church choir and the Legion of Mary. She was a devoted Catholic and a caring person who would always pray for those who were ill. Chavelita was a very loving person who enjoyed taking family vacations. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rosalio Ordoñez; two sons, Frank and Arturo Ordoñez; three sisters, Aurora Martinez, Dolores Mireles, Concepcion Leija; and three brothers, Alberto, Ramon and Reyes Enriquez. Mrs. Ordoñez is survived by three children, Ricardo (Raquenel) Ordoñez of Pharr, Rosario (Javier) Cantu of McAllen, Yolanda (Agapito) Salazar of Alamo; a daughter in law, Olivia Ordoñez of San Juan; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
