NOVELTY MO, KIRKSVILLE, MO, ALAMO TX — Anna Lois Rogers, 91, died Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Comfort House in McAllen, TX. She was born in Novelty, Missouri on February 8, 1925, daughter to Parker Newkirk and Leta (Wilson) Newkirk. She attended Novelty School in Novelty, MO graduating in 1943. She united in marriage with Carroll L. Rogers on December 27, 1944 in Knox City, MO. Having retired from their family farm in Novelty, MO they had moved to Kirksville, MO and had enjoyed wintering in Alamo, TX. She is preceded in death by a son, Lee Edward Rogers; and her parents, Parker & Leta Newkirk. Anna is survived by her husband, Carroll L. Rogers of Kirksville, Missouri; a daughter, Linda Carol Leykamp of Alamo, Texas; a son, Lester Steven Rogers of New Braunfels, Texas; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Thomas Parker Newkirk of Sonora, Texas; and a sister, Katharine Blair of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. A graveside service will take place at a later date at Novelty Cemetery in Novelty, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Shriners Hospital Charity. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
