PSJA ISD librarian receives Literary Excellence Award

PSJA ISD Librarian Lisa Hernandez was recently awarded the South Texas Literacy Coalition Literary Excellence Award for School Librarians at their annual gala at the Valencia Events Center Oct. 11. Hernandez is the librarian at PSJA’s College, Career & Technology Academy (CCTA). Prior to her current role, she was a traveling librarian, serving four PSJA special purpose campuses: PSJA Ballew HS, PSJA Sotomayor ECHS, Buell Central DAEP and CCTA. She is credited with revamping reading programs at all special purpose campuses by incorporating the Accelerated Reader program. She has been the recipient of several state recognitions like the 2014 Vivian Greenfield Education Award from the Texas Library Association, the 2012 Young Adult Reading Incentive Award and the 2002 Outstanding New Librarian Award.
