PSJA ISD’s Pathways Toward Independence Program is working

How sweet it is: Janie Gonzalez’s first paycheck. The smile on her face as she received it recently from her new place of employment – Irma’s Sweet Shoppe – says it all. While working a job may seem like a chore and a bore to some people, for Janie, it’s a dream come true.

Janie Gonzalez recently graduated from PSJA ISD’s Pathways Toward Independence Program, which is taught at the Learning in Functional Environments (LIFE) house in Pharr inside a remodeled residential home that has the sort of backyard that only comes courtesy of those old mature trees that have been around for decades.
