$$$: Pharr Housing Authority
By G. Romero Wendorf
Is this brewing battle royal between the Pharr Housing Authority (PHA) and Valle De Palmas (VDP), owned by Pharr Mayor Pro Tem Oscar Elizondo, a political witch hunt or simply good due diligence on the part of the PHA board?
Depend on one’s point of view.
At issue, six digits, no small amount of money: $737,502.
PHA says Elizondo owes the money based on a lease agreement VDP signed with PHA dating back to July 2009, by which he did not abide.
Elizondo says “These guys are crazy. This is just nuts. It’s a witch hunt. You don’t do this to people. You know what I owe? Zero.”
