Mayor, city commissioner at odds over appointment

ALAMO -- Margot (Saenz) Salas is no longer Alamo’s city secretary, effective as of last week. Approximately five years ago, the same thing happened to her – the city-commission majority dismissed her from her job. She filed a lawsuit, claiming wrongful termination. The two sides settled. No money changed hands, but Saenz (name now changed to Salas) got back her city secretary’s job.
According to the Alamo city charter, the city secretary is an appointed position, and the city commission can re-call that appointment any time it so chooses.
