Edinburg city attorney explains why Jasso, Jr. should be removed from office

The question of whether or not the Edinburg City Council has the right to remove one of its own, Homer Jasso, Jr., from office is still unanswered despite a court appearance last week in the 332nd state District Court (Judge Mario Ramirez, Jr.).
Jasso’s attorneys wanted a 40-day extension, but instead, Ramirez gave them 10 days to respond to the city’s contention that the city councilman was in violation of the city charter when he did work for the city two years ago and was paid for that work (tire recycling) from city coffers (tax dollars). After the 10-day period, which ends this Friday the 13th, Ramirez indicated that he may take an additional seven days to make his final determination.
