City manager finally gets contract

SAN JUAN – San Juan’s city manager, Benjamin “Ben” Arjona, finally got his contract finalized last month, after having his probationary period extended twice, leaving him on the waiting list, so to speak, for 12 months. Still, all is not well in The Friendly City. The vote to finalize the contract with Arjona was 3-2, with the mayor in the minority. The man she thought she could count on to give her a commission majority, Mayor Pro Tem Mario Garza, after “Pete” Garcia won the city’s special election last January (2016), instead sided with the two-member minority, “Raudy” Maldonado and “Jesse” Ramirez to give Arjona the nod.
