City Commission authorizes mayor to send him an invite

Will he come or won’t he? The City of McAllen is hoping the answer is yes. On Monday, during a regular city meeting, Mayor Jim Darling received a unanimous vote from the city commission, authorizing him to send a letter that he had already drafted to President Donald Trump, asking that he visit McAllen/the RGV to get a taste of what makes this area so unique, so important to the wealth of the nation. Presumably, the letter is also intended to point out the close relations this area has with Mexico, and vice versa, and to please keep that in mind as the new president goes about renegotiating trade policy with Mexico and Canada and drafting ways to better secure the Texas border.
