Wolverines race tough against Cardinals

ALAMO – Last Thursday night in Alamo the PSJA Memorial Wolverines hosted a second practice meet. This time it was only a dual vs the Harlingen Cardinals. Going into the meet, this writer knew that the Wolverines were in for a fight. In the previous two tri meets, the track and field athletes had put up some good marks and did very well in every event. This time, things would be a lot more difficult as the Cardinals were the district champions in cross country and finished number six at the regional meet in the fall. Besides having a core of distant runners, the Harlingen ISD program always puts on the track a bevy of sprinters and field event athletes. Word got back to Alamo that the Cardinals had a sprinter who was especially fast. The matchup between these two programs was anticipated with excitement.
