Sharyland Pioneer’s basketball philosophy — quick ball movement

Gregg Popovich and the San Antonio Spurs have an offensive mentality that believes moving the ball around quickly is key to being efficient. The rule is you have a half-second to either pass or shoot the ball from the time you touch it. It’s difficult as a defender to have to keep up with that pace.
Sharyland Pioneer’s offense has a similar philosophy and that was clear last week when the Diamondbacks literally ran out of the gates against rival Sharyland High, bolting to an 18-0 lead and never being challenge in a 68-45 District 31-5A opener for both squads.
Aaron Cuevas, Taggert Chandler and Lavar Lindo led the Diamondback offense, scoring repeatedly on layups and putbacks created by Pioneer’s passing offense that was seemingly always a step ahead of Sharyland’s defense. Cuevas led the team in scoring wiht 14 points.
