PSJA ISD Superintendent Dr. Daniel King announces retirement
PHARR – Dr. Daniel P. King, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD superintendent of Schools for the last 12 years, has announced his plans to retire this fall. September 30 will be his final day at the desk he’s occupied since June 2007.
King has spent 42 years in public education, including 20 as superintendent in two school districts, Hidalgo and PSJA. He began his career in education in August 1977 as a teacher with Hidalgo ISD.
“My tenure in public education has been exciting and fulfilling,” King said in a letter submitted to the PSJA School Board. “It is time for me to move into a different phase of my journey.”
PSJA ISD’s longtime superintendent presented his resignation letter to members of the PSJA ISD School Board during yesterday’s (June 24) regularly scheduled board meeting. With plans of retiring by Sept. 30, 2019, King said he is sure the district will continue reaching even higher levels of excellence.
