PSJA Bears restore a winning record

PHARR - Weslaco East had faced PSJA’s Trey Guajardo before.
Well, not exactly. The team had, however, faced top-notch multi-dimensional quarterbacks within their own District 32-6A and felt they could slow Guajardo down.
“We knew we couldn’t stop him, but we felt like we could slow him down,” said Weslaco East Head Coach Mike Burget, whose team exploded for 21 points in the third quarter en route to a 49-13 victory in the bi-district round of the Class 6A state playoffs on Friday. “The defense came out in the second half and they were putting hits on everyone. I mean, they were hitting.”
