Al Ogletree, “Coach Al” as he was known, built relationships. It just so happened that many of those relationships also built great baseball teams.
Ogletree died last Monday morning (June 24). He was 89 years old. The legendary baseball coach spent 29 years leading the Pan American and UTPA (now UTRGV) baseball teams, amassing a 1,084 – 618 - 1 record. He led the Broncs to the 1971 College World Series (CWS) and 11 NCAA Regional tournaments.
He also coached at the University of Dallas and Sul Ross State.
