McALLEN - Meda “Janie” Mason, 80, died Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at McAllen Nursing Center. Born in Sabinal, TX, she had lived in San Juan since 1971. Janie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur G. Mason; and her parents, Ella Mae and Louis Smith. Mrs. Mason is survived by her daughter, Denise M. (Jim) Elliff of Mission; two sons, George Mason of McAllen, Kevin (Julie) Mason of Alamo; two grandchildren, Arthur Jack Keyes, Amanda Leigh Mason; three sisters, Martha Lou (George) Campbell of Tyler, TX, Sarah (Oran) Stout of Bullard, TX, and Barbara (Anthony) Anizan of Pearsall, TX. Memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at Rushing – Estes – Knowles Funeral Home in Sabinal, TX. Interment will follow at Sabinal Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
