Memorial Mustangs use second half surge to overtake Coyotes 21-17 Speights rushes for 315 yards

The McAllen Memorial Mustangs used the explosive running of junior tailback Trevor Speights to overcome a 10-point third-quarter deficit and defeat the La Joya Coyotes 21-17 in a District 30-6A battle at La Joya Friday night. The Coyotes executed an 84-yard scoring drive midway through the third quarter to take a 17-7 lead, but the Mustangs countered with a quick 81-yard march as Trevor Speights scampered 56 yards to set up the touchdown. Memorial gained its first lead early in the fourth quarter with a 56- yard scoring thrust, and its defense contained the Coyotes for the rest of the game.
