Lenny Dykstra hired PIs to blackmail home-plate umps?

By G. Romero Wendorf

Before I get to former Major League Baseball (MLB) star Lenny Dykstra’s claim that he hired private investigators to blackmail home-plate umpires while playing in the Big Show, I have to take a moment to tip off my hat to the Golden State Warriors. Should have bet on the team (but then they would have lost), because two weeks ago, I predicted they would face Cleveland in the finals (turned out I was right; but if I would have bet, they would have lost), even though they had to overcome a 3-1 game deficit against Oklahoma to get to the finals.

As I’m writing this column Saturday morning, it seems certain that Golden State will repeat as the champs for a second consecutive year. Only 10 teams have bounced back from a 3-1 game deficit in the finals to win. And the way the Cavaliers are playing, that’s not going to happen. In fact, Game 5 is Monday, so by the time this column is published Wednesday, it will most likely be all over. Even though the Cavs will really be under the gun to not be swept on home turf.
