Chicago Cub fans, of which I count myself as one, shouldn’t get too excited even if the Loveable Losers are atop the National League’s Central Division, 10.5 games ahead of the Cards. And even if they currently have the best win-loss record in the MLB (69-41), there’s still plenty of time to crater. Cub fans are used to it. We’ve come to expect it. We hope for the best, and always prepare for the worst. And if we’re smart, we never bet on them to win.
