It’s Sunday morning, and I’m already depressed after waking up to learn of the mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton, Ohio.
The Viet Nam “war,” racial and urban turbulence/riots, and assassinations during the 1960s might have come close to today’s sorry news, but in my lifetime, I’ve never seen America in this much of a colossal mess.
How do we get out of the mess in which we now find ourselves?
We need a leader who can bring the country together, but I see none on the horizon or in the current political sphere. Along political lines, they’re all in it for themselves or the ideology they profess to follow. The ones who aren’t don’t get appointed to head committees or even sit on one; and too often, their own respective party supports an opponent in the next primary.
