95% never agree on anything

It was truly amazing to follow the Crimean election and see that almost everybody voted and 95% of those who did wanted to join Russia. If you want 80% turnout and 95% agreement there’s nothing like a rifle zeroed in on your back as a motivater. Unfortunately for Putin there was a poll taken of the residents of Crimea prior to the invasion. It showed that only one third wanted to leave Ukraine and embrace the Bear. So much for Putin’s honesty. At least he never said: “If you like your country, you can keep it.” He did, however, intimate as much. Either voters were intimidated or the vote counting was rigged. I suspect it was a combination of the two. When thugs count the vote and outside observers are shot at when they try to enter the region, what else can you expect.
