Villalobos new McAllen commissioner

Protecting property values

McALLEN -- Some might think it fitting that it was the brother of former McAllen City Commissioner Scott Crane, Federal Judge Randy Crane, who swore Javier Villalobos into office last week as McAllen’s newest District 1 city commissioner. It’s fitting because Villalobos echoes Scott Crane’s sentiments when he says one of his major goals as District 1 commissioner will be protecting property values on the city’s north side.
That will, no doubt, sit well with many of his constituents since north McAllen is home to some of the city’s pricier homes, but there will also those be lobbing grenades at Villalobos just like they did at Scott Crane when the McAllen Housing Authority started discussing the construction of a 16-unit apartment complex, Auburn Village, for
