Billy Leo, RIP

When I moved to this end of the Valley in 1982, William “Billy” Leo was already a Democrat icon, and he was only 35. Over the past 36 years, his stature has grown even larger. Hard to believe he’s gone, having succumbed to a sudden heart attack March 17 at the age of 70. He would have turned 71 this May.
Of all the people I spoke to before writing this column, not one had anything bad to say about Leo. In fact, quite the opposite was true, according to those who knew him well – “He was a good guy.”
