Judge Rudy Delgado Stays in the Race

Friday’s 5 p.m. deadline came and went, and former state District Court Judge “Rudy” Delgado apparently decided to stay on the November ballot for the District 4 seat on the 13th Court of Appeals. This, despite the fact that he’s not only been suspended by the Texas State Commission on Judicial Conduct, but stands indicted by a federal grand jury for accepting bribes from a local attorney, Noe Perez, in exchange for favorable rulings from his Delgado’s bench inside the 93rd. The former judge is also charged with obstruction of justice, violating the federal Travel Act (bribes via phone), and conspiracy to commit bribery related to programs that receive federal funding. Eight counts in all.
