In 1962, local news reporters helped cover up a murder?

Today’s journalists, news reporters, editors, news directors, all of us have our faults, but I can’t believe that any of us would knowingly harbor an alleged killer if we knew about it. That’s what happened, however, back in circa 1962/’63 when former Hidalgo County District Attorney Robert Lattimore called a select group of local news reporters into his office for an off-the-record discussion about the murder investigation of 25-year-old Irene Garza and the part a local priest, John Feit, had to play in her brutal slaughter.
Back then, 55 years ago, there were only two local TV stations, two daily newspapers in Hidalgo County, and a handful of radio stations. So there weren’t really that many news reporters Lattimore had to call
