SAN JUAN — Santa Ofelia Pinon, 62, passed away Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015, at her residence in San Juan. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. Born in Monterrey, Mexico, she had lived in San Juan most of her life. She is preceded in death by her parents, Julian and Juanita Martinez; a sister, Maria Vargas; a brother, Rodrigo Martinez; and a niece, Ana Quiroz.
Mrs. Pinon is survived by her husband of 39 years, Guadalupe Pinon of San Juan; four children, Monica Pinon, Guadalupe Pinon, Jr., both of San Antonio, Priscilla Pinon of Alamo, Kristal Pinon of San Juan; seven grandchildren, Halie, Coby, Joey, Noah, Jakob, Mia and Nathan; five brothers, Aurelio Martinez, Raul Martinez, Julian Martinez, Juan Martinez, Manuel Martinez; four sisters, Dora Almanza, Ofelia Hernandez, Filiberta Tapia and Virginia Tapia.
Visitation was held from 4 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Sunday, Dec. 6, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service took place at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 7, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment followed at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Funeral services were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of San Juan.
