OSCAR HERNANDEZ

PHARR – Oscar Hernandez, 52, passed away Monday, May 22, 2017 in McAllen, TX. Oscar was born on September 8, 1964 in Pharr, TX. While he lived in his hometown for most of his life, he also resided in Los Angeles, CA and Willmar, MN. He is preceded in death by his mother, Acension Hernandez; beloved tias, Josefa Hernandez, Jesusa Hernandez, Teresa Villa; and his uncle, Isaac Hernández, all of Pharr. His memory is seared into the hearts of many who will always remember and love him, especially his daughter, Teresa Hernández-Reed; his tía, Maria Hernández; his son-in-law, Michael Reed; and his cousin, Isidro Villa. Oscar will be remembered for many things, his strength, vulnerability, and striking kindness to others. Most importantly, he will always be remembered as the world’s best grandpa to Auden Isabela Reed. Oscar loved traveling with his family, sharing with them his love for adventure. Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary, Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service took place at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 25, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Pharr. Cremation followed to allow Oscar to accompany his family in Eugene, Oregon. Funeral services were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
