ORALIA T. VILLARREAL
ALAMO - Oralia T. Villarreal, age 79, went home to be with the Lord on April 5, 2015, Easter Sunday. She was born on May 20, 1935 in Taft, TX to Carlos and Guadalupe P. Torres. She married Rudy Villarreal on July 2, 1956 in Croswell, Michigan. Oralia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an excellent cook, homemaker and was well known for her delicious tamales. Her hobbies and past times included hand painting hundreds of Easter eggs for her family, watching Wheel of Fortune, the Spurs, playing scrabble, going to casinos, garage sales and antique shopping. As a Navy wife and First Lady of Alamo, she enjoyed traveling the country. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Raquel Castillo and Alma Foglesong, brothers, Paul Torres and Tomas Torres. Grandchildren, Arturo E. Garcia III and Lisa Marie Salazar. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Mayor Rudy Villarreal. Children, Diana Gutierrez, Irene Gonzalez, Monica Crossman, Sylvia (†Vicente) Olivo, Patty Villarreal, Rod Villarreal, Norma (Orlando) Robles and Rene (Paula) Villarreal. Known as “Nana” by her 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and one on the way. Brothers, Jesse (Harvest) Torres and Carlos (Pauline) Torres, sister in law, Elva Torres, brothers in law, Ascencion A. Castillo and Larry Foglesong, all of Michigan. Many nieces and nephews. Loved by all. Visitation was held Tuesday, April 7, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Skinner Silva Funeral Chapel in Pharr with a Prayer Service conducted at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8, at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Pharr. Pallbearers will be Ascencion Castillo, Jr, Rick Escalon, Matthew Crossman, Eric Banda, Michael Villarreal and Jacob Olivo. Honorary Pallbearers will be Andrew Robles and Brandon De Leon. Funeral services are entrusted to the care of Skinner Silva Funeral Home of Pharr.
