MANUELA “MELA” FLORES

Mrs. Manuela “Mela” Flores 71 years old entered heaven’s gates on Wednesday, April 13, 2016. Born on August 9, 1944 to Rodolfo & Mercedes Rodriguez in Mexico. She was united in marriage to Juan Angel Flores on July 29, 1967. During her marriage to her loving husband of 48 years she had 3 children, Juan Angel “Johnny” Flores, Norma Torres, both of San Juan, Rosaura (Javier) Castellano of McAllen; 3 grand boys, Arnulfo, Angel, and Javier Jr, Also left behind to cherish her memory are her four brothers and three sisters, numerous nieces and nephews. She lived in San Juan most of her life. She had a passion for gardening. She took great pride in her flowers. Her family was the most important passion. She was a magnificent cook and enjoyed cooking for them. She expressed her love to them constantly and always expressed to them to love one another. She always emphasized the importance of family. Manuela kept her faith in God throughout all of her trails. She was blessed with so much and was very thankful till the end. She is preceded in death by both her parents; one brother, Otoniel Rodriguez; a nephew, Rodolfo Rudy Garcia. The Flores Family would like to express their most sincere thanks to all the loving and caring staff who cared for her at McAllen Medical Center, Edinburg Rehab Center, DR. Eduardo Flores, DR. Juan Guardia, Carmen Osorio PA-C, and Carlos I. Vela PA. Visitation were held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Friday, April 15, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service took place at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment followed Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Funeral services were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
