JULIAN ALVAREZ

ALAMO—Julian Alvarez, 80, went home to our Lord on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen.

Mr. Alvarez was born in Rio Grande City and had lived in Alamo most of his life.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Raquel S. Alvarez; his parents, Antonio and Andrea Alvarez; a brother, Miguel Angel Alvarez; and a sister, Estela Guerrero.

Mr. Alvarez is survived by six children, Tomas (Irma) Alvarez of Idaho, Maribel Pena, Cruz (Rosalinda) Alvarez, both of Alamo, Andrea (Alonso) Rivas of Pharr, Julian Alvarez Jr.of Idaho, Anna Alvarez of Alamo; 18 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren; and three siblings, Jose Luis Alvarez of La Rosita, Antonio Alvarez of California, and Diana Lopez of Alamo.

The family would like to give special thanks to Elva Razo who cared for Mr. Alvarez for over 20 years.

Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Friday, December 28, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg. Funeral service took place Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo. Interment followed at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna.

Funeral services were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
