JESUS “CHUY” RODRIGUEZ

SAN JUAN - It is with a sad and heavy heart that we announce the passing of the patriarch of our family. Jesus “Chuy” Rodriguez a loving husband, father, grandpa “abuelito”, great grandpa, son, brother, uncle and friend passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family. Jesus “Chuy” Rodriguez 80, passed away Saturday, May 7 at his residence in San Juan, Texas. He was born in Crandall, Texas, August 6th, 1935. Our Dad/Husband is preceded in death by his parents Gregorio Rodriguez and Catalina Valadez Rodriguez, his siblings, Elena, Maria, Alejandro, Teresa and Juanita. Survived by one sister. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife Ma. Teresa Rodriguez; children, Carmen R. (Gregorio) Trevino, Carlos (Marianela) Rodriguez, Rolando (Guillermina) Rodriguez, Rogelio (Marcela) Rodriguez, Claudia R. (Raul) Gonzalez, Laura (Arnoldo) Rodriguez; 31 grandchildren; and nine greatgrandchildren. Our Dad – Husband, was a long time business man, owning and operating, “Rodriguez Service Station and Grocery” for close to 40 years in our beloved City of San Juan. He was well known by members of the community as being a person always willing to help anyone in need of a helping hand. The bittersweet remembrance of the forthright individual that was Jesus “Chuy” Rodriguez. “Chuy” as he was so dearly known, led his family to be the tight knit unit that they are today. His word had the weight of 10 bricks and was not to be disregarded. His questions were abundant because he cared enough to understand the who’s what’s and why’s of you and your situation. As the pioneer of the Rodriguez family, preceding his family in life’s final stop is only appropriate. He is not departing but leading the path with his trusty flashlight to make sure the coast is clear. While his time in this realm is “no more!”, don’t cry “mami, mami, mami” because he is waiting patiently for everyone in “la cuna” up in the sky. Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service Tuesday, May 10 at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
