PHARR – Amelia Luera Jones, 83, died, Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at Amara Hospice in Edinburg. She was born in Cuero, Texas and lived in Pharr all of her life. Amelia is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Jones; her parents, Toribio and Eloisa Luera; and six siblings. Mrs. Jones is survived by four children, Martimiano “Marty” (+Marina) Vargas of San Juan, Hermelinda “Linda” George of Pharr, Sylvia Vargas of Wichita Falls, and Eloisa Beverly Ramos of San Juan; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 4 greatgreat grandchildren. Visitation was from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary on Friday, June 17, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service took place at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2016, at St. Margret Mary Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment followed at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Funeral services were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of San Juan.
