ALBERTO VILLAFUERTE, SR.
EDINBURG – Alberto Villafuerte, Sr., 86, was promoted into God’s Glory Saturday, July 29, 2017, at Comfort House in McAllen.
Born in Goliad, TX, Mr. Villafuerte lived in Edinburg most of his life. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Mr. Villafuerte was a proud Korean War Veteran and a longtime dedicated employee at Gateway Printing and Office Supply in Edinburg.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joaquin and Juana Villafuerte; three brothers, Pablo Villafuerte, Mingo Villafuerte, Antonio Villafuerte; and two sisters, Carmen Villafuerte and Hermila Valdez.
Mr. Villafuerte is survived by his wife, Enriqueta F. Villafuerte of Edinburg; four children, Alicia (Albert) Olabarrieta, of McAllen, Alma (David) Davila of Edinburg, Alberto (Yvette) Villafuerte, Jr. of Atlanta, Amy Golde of Edinburg; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Manuel Villafuerte; and a sister, Maria Magdalena (Gabino) Balderas, both of Edinburg.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service Wednesday, August 2, at Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 9 a.m. Thursday, August 3, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel followed by 10 a.m. burial at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Pallbearers will be Hiram Genaro Davila, Victor Garcia, June Lorelee Izaguirre, Mark Olabarrieta, Matthew Olabarrieta, Gabrielle Villafuerte. Honorary pallbearers are Alberto Balderas, Anselmo Enriquez, Eliborio Enriquez, Arnoldo Flores, Carlos “Charlie” Flores, Eleazar “Chale” Flores, Jr., Enrique Flores, Jr., Rene Flores, Vidal Flores, Gabriel Garcia, Sr., Jessie Peralez and Domingo Villafuerte, Jr. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 7473 of Elsa.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
