EDINBURG — Amancio R. Romo, 68, died Saturday, October 10, 2015, at Alfredo Gonzales Texas State Nursing Home in McAllen. Amancio was a Vietnam Veteran. He served in the Army from 1966 - 1968 stationed in Huey, Vietnam. Mr. Romo worked at International Paper Company as a Supervisor for 34 years until he retired to spend time with family and friends. Amancio was very family oriented and was married to Rosalinda for 47 years. He was an exceptional father to his two kids; his grandchildren were the light of his life. He will be deeply missed not only by his family, but by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his sister, Angela (Oscar) Ramirez; a brother, Ramon Romo; parents, Nicanora and Adolfo Romo. Amancio is survived by his wife, Rosalinda Romo of Edinburg; two children, Alejandro C. Romo, Anissa Yrene Romo (Ricardo Manuel) Yanez both from Edinburg; four grandchildren, Samantha Ynez Hernandez, Orion Gian Yanez, Lincoln Xavier Yanez all of Edinburg, and Joshua Manuel Yanez, of San Antonio, Tx; three sisters, Sara (Jose) Aguilar, Amelia (Salomon) Salas, Alicia Rodriguez, all of Edinburg; two brothers, Amador (Janie) Romo, Arturo Romo, both of Edinburg; and two sisters-inlaw, Maria Elena Romo of Edinburg and Yolanda Cisneros of Leigh High Acres, Florida. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 8788 of McAllen. Pallbearers will be Daniel Aguilar, Roel Aguilar, Ramon Romo Jr., Moses Salas, Robert Rodriguez Jr. and Acension Rivera Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Maribel Aguilar Valdez and Estela Ayala. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Monday, October 12, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
