Ricardo Rodriguez has only been on the job a little over a month as new district attorney forHidalgo County, but he says he’s already made changes that should ensure his department remains free from the influence of drug money and criminal elements. Not that the former district attorney, Rene Guerra, was ever accused of climbing into bed with criminals, as did his good friend, former Sheriff Lupe Treviño, who’s now serving a five-year sentence in federal prison for money laundering. But one of Guerra’s former criminal investigators – Aida Palacios – did get in bed with a criminal, both literally and figuratively. Her live-in boyfriend, circa 2011, was bail bondsman and political fundraiser Julio Armando Davila, who was also moonlighting as a drug dealer.
