Sad and tragic. How else to describe Sunday’s massive heart attack and death of McAllen City Commissioner Scott Crane, 50, after he fell ill during his attempt to run the city’s 26.2-mile marathon. The grief his family, friends, city staff and the community feel over his sudden, unexpected passing, well, you talk to people who knew him and you get a sense of what a decent guy he was, in both the world of business and politics, where people are less inclined to speak of you kindly.
