Alamo city commission majority fires police chief three days later

It took approximately five months for the city of Alamo to fire its police chief, Baudelio Castillo, but Monday (May 20) the hammer finally fell after state District Court Judge Marla Guerra ruled in the city’s favor the previous Friday, thereby throwing the matter back in the city’s hands.
Last Dec. 17 (2018), Castillo’s attorney, Francisco Rodriguez, filed a petition/request for a temporary restraining order, trying to put a halt to the city’s attempt to fire his client. State District Court Judge Keno Vasquez signed it, and the five-month delay began as each side filed countless motions and counter-motions as the case was moved. One response to a plea, alone, dated March 22, 2019, took up 226 pages of space.
Mayor Diana Martinez, Commissioners Robert De La Garza and Maria Del Pilar Garza vs. Commissioners Trino Medina and Pete Morales led to Castillo’s undoing.
