Throwback to small-town football Why I love the Green Bay Packers

You didn’t have to be a skilled lip reader last Sunday to decipher what word (starts with an F) Tom Brady was screaming on the sidelines after Green Bay’s stellar QB, Aaron Rodgers, completed a 7-yard pass to Randall Cobb with only 2:28 left in the game. The completion got the Pack a new first down. The Pats had no more timeouts left. End of story. Green Bay wins 26-21. As a kid who grew up with a step-dad who was born and raised in Wisconsin, becoming a Green Bay fan was a given. I watched the Pack win the first two Super Bowls (’67 and ’68), and after that, I was hooked. Jim Taylor, Paul Hornung, Donny Anderson, Jerry Kramer, Ron Kostelnik (died in ’93 at the age of 53 of a massive coronary) and the incomparable Max McGee, who passed away in 2007 at the age of 75.
