Second-round playoff contest Weslaco East Wildcats pummel Palmview Lobos 56-6

The Weslaco East Wildcats used an unstoppable ground game that featured numerous big plays and a stubborn defense to trounce the La Joya Palmview Lobos 56-6 Friday night in a Class 6A Division II second round playoff game at La Joya. Senior running back Lupe Moron, who entered the game with almost 2000 yards rushing in 2014, got the Wildcat juggernaut going with an 81- yard scoring run on East’s second play. After Moron left the game due to an apparent ankle injury, Alexis Cervantes ripped off a 39-yard touchdown run. Emilio Tamez, lined up at quarterback, rab for touchdowns of 80 and 22 yards in the fourth quarter. The Wildcat offense quickly got in high gear, taking a 21-0 lead with three first quarter touchdowns.
