ARNOLDO CANTU GARZA
EDINBURG – Arnoldo Cantu Garza, 68, passed away Friday, January 18, 2019, at his residence.
Born on July 4, 1950 in Pharr, TX, Mr. Garza had lived in Edinburg for 30 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Arnoldo had a passion in helping his children, family and friends. He will always be remembered as a hard-working man, and an avid fisherman and hunter.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Federico Garza and Beatriz Cantu; three brothers, Gilberto Garza, Benancio Garza, Juan O. Garza; and a sister, Irma De Anda.
Arnoldo is survived by his wife of 47 years, Viola Ventura Garza; three daughters, Marissa Garza, Aida Garza, Mirelda Garza; a son, Arnoldo Garza Jr., all of Edinburg; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ninfa Garza Fontecha, Yolanda (Juan Antonio) Munoz; and three brothers, Oliverio (Dalia) Garza, Fred (Mari) Garza, Ricardo Garza, all of Pharr; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Monday, January 21, 2019, at Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg. Funeral service took place at 12 noon Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment followed at Magic Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Pallbearers included Armando Garza, Efren Fontecha, Rick Garza, Carlos Garza, Andrew Gaona, Mathew Gaona, and Isaiah Gaona.
Funeral services were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
