RONULFO O. SALMON
EDINBURG - Ronulfo O. Salmon, 92, went home to our Lord Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at Amara Hospice in Edinburg.
Mr. Salmon was born in Seguin, Texas and lived in Edinburg most of his life. He was a Navy Veteran during WWII. Later, he worked at Golden Jersey and retired from International Paper Co. after 20 years of service as a machine operator He was known as a gentle, kind, respectful man, who was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Jose and Jesusa Salmon; his stepmother, Lucinda G. Salmon; two sisters, Cecilia Gutierrez, Josefina Medina; his in-laws, Manuel and Petra Benavides; two brothers-in-law, Armando Benavides, Manuel Benavides II; and a sister-in-law, Lydia Guzman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Elva Benavides Salmon of Edinburg; two sons, Ronulfo Salmon, Jr. of Edinburg, Armando (Anna) Salmon of Corpus Christi; a daughter, Nora Elva Salmon of Edinburg; six grandchildren, Veronica (Steve) Salmon, Victoria Salmon, Liana Salmon, Andy (Letty) Arredondo, Michael (Elisa) Arredondo, Jose (Ana) Salmon; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Olga Ibarra and Yolanda Benavides, both of Edinburg.
Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Sunday, November 25, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg Funeral service took place at 12:30 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2018, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment followed at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
Military honors were conducted by VFW Post 7473.
Pallbearers were Jose Salmon, Andy Arredondo, Michael Arredondo, Ephraine Arredondo, Manuel Moreno, and Manuel Benavides.Funeral services were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
