LUCILA F. LOPEZ
PHARR - Lucila F. Lopez, age 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, August 4, 2018.
Lucila was known for her strong faith and kindness. She was the pillar of the family whose faith and prayers carried the family on. She was a lifelong member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Pharr where she served the Lord in numerous capacities. Lucila was also known for her kindness. She was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone in need. Numerous stories are shared of her acts of kindness. Family was Lucila’s passion and delight. She loved to host gatherings and visit with family members sharing stories and laughter.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Arnoldo F. Lopez, her parents, Antonio and Eloisa Fonseca, a sister, Delia Yolanda Fonseca and a brother, Marco Antonio Fonseca.
Lucila is survived by two daughters, Lucila (Arnoldo) Gutierrez of San Juan, Edna (Marqus) Hernandez of Sharyland, a son Arnold (Marina) Lopez of Donna, ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, three siblings, Bernardo Fonseca of Houston, Zulema Fonseca of McAllen, and Elma Velazquez of Hidalgo, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation were held from 5 pm to 9 pm, with a 7 pm rosary Monday, August 6, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service took place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment followed at San Juan Cemetery.
Funeral services were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
