JOSE G. “LUPE” GARCIA

SAN JUAN – Jose G. “Lupe” Garcia, 91, went home to our Lord Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at Amara Hospice in Edinburg.
Born in Montemorelos, N.L. Mexico, he lived in San Juan, TX most of his life. Jose was a family-oriented man who dedicated his life to his beloved wife and children. Mr. Garcia was a reserved man who worked very hard and took great pride in everything he did. Lupe enjoyed writing songs and playing music on his accordion as well as cooking brisket for his family on special occasions. He was married for 67 years to the love of his life and they are now reunited for eternity. Mr. Garcia had many hobbies some of which were woodwork, auto-mechanics, electronics and gardening. He has left a legacy that will live forever.
Preceded in death by his wife, Guadalupe “Lupita” Garcia, on November 1, 2017.
He is survived by two sons, Joe (Melba) Garcia of Pharr, Jaime (Nelda) Garcia of Mission; five daughters, Maria “Candy” Sams of Dallas, Yolanda Garcia of San Juan, Blanca (Enrique) Flores of McAllen, Isabel Ibanez of McAllen, Vianey (Roy) Villegas of McAllen; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Candelaria Estevis of San Juan.
Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Friday, Feb. 9, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service took place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment followed at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Mr. Garcia’s family would like to give their sincere heartfelt appreciation and thanks to the staff of Amara Hospice in Edinburg for the attentive care and professionalism given to their beloved father.
Funerals services were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
