MARIA ISABEL “CHAVELA” FARIAS
ALAMO – Maria Isabel “Chavela” Farias, 94, died Friday, November 10, 2017, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen.
Born in Norheim, Texas, she had lived in Alamo most of her life and was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Trinidad Farias; eight brothers; and three sisters.
Mrs. Farias is survived by three sons, Ruben (Letty) Farias of Weslaco, Julian (Janie) Farias of McAllen, Jorge (Gracie) Farias of Alamo; two daughters, Amalia (Clemente) Sanchez, Rosie (Alfredo) Gutierrez, both of Alamo; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Sunday, November 12, 2017, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, November 13, 2017, at Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo. Interment will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
