ISRAEL J. SILVA

EDINBURG - Israel J. Silva, 86, entered into eternal life Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg.
Israel was born in Edinburg October 24, 1930 to Esmerita and Camilo Silva, he was the oldest of five children. Israel served in the U.S. Army, and was employed by Tide Products for 35 years.
Mr. Silva is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Guadalupe Garcia; an adopted son, Ruben Silva; a granddaughter, Alexa Monet Salinas; and a great-granddaughter, Leah Nicole Gonzalez.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Rosa G. Silva; eight children, Rachel (Joaquin III) Gonzalez, Celia (Fidel) Salinas, Alicia S. (Reymundo) Rios, Israel (Gisel) Silva Jr., Enedelia (+Rolando) Prado, Rafael (Eva) Silva, all of Edinburg, Homer (Sonya) Silva of Boerne, TX, Richie (Laura) Silva of Edinburg; a grandson whom he raised, RJ Rios; 24 other grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Gilberto Silva, Oscar Silva, Olga Herrera.
Israel will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, with a love of hunting with his sons and grandchildren, watching his Dallas Cowboys and the New York Yankees.
Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Tuesday, Aug. 29, at Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Israel will be saluted with military honors.
The Silva family would like to extend their gratitude to V.A. Phillip Atkins, Willa McNutt and Dr. Melva Palacios for their attentiveness and loving care. Pallbearers will be Joaquin Gonzalez IV, Eric Salinas, RJ Rios, Rolando Prado Jr., Ralph Silva Jr., Andrew Silva and Lucas Silva. Honorary pallbearers will be Mathew Gonzalez, Alex Salinas, James Rios, David Rios, Paul Silva, Nicolas Silva and Hadden Silva.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
