Another Mexican journalist slain

Reynosa violence cooling down

The good news is, the violence that occurred in Reynosa three weeks ago has decreased to some degree, based on current social media posts from south of the border. The bad news is, one more Mexican journalist was recently slain in cold blood, which adds up to at least six killed since early March (Associated Press).

The irony of the Reynosa shootouts that rocked the city of approximately 700,000 three weeks ago was that the McAllen Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) had plans that same week to take some of the people who comprise Leadership McAllen on a tour of the Reynosa maquiladora factories. Needless to say, the bus tour was abruptly cancelled.
