Of ballots, walls and the Raymondville Drain

The border wall is a topic in Washington and it was a topic at Monday night’s regular meeting of the McAllen city commission. Mayor Jim Darling gave commissioners an update on his involvement on the proposed wall and effectively got commissioners’ agreement on his actions.
Darling told commissioners that he confirmed on Monday what County Judge Ramon Garcia had told him a month-and-a-half ago: that FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) wants to see a two-foot barrier on top of the levee system in the county where the proposed wall addition is to go. There are 22 miles of levee left on which to put the border wall, according to Darling.
