SAN JUAN – Leonila S. Navarro, 94, died Saturday, June 25, 2016, at her residence in San Juan, surrounded by her family. Leonila was born in Bishop, TX and was a life-long resident of San Juan. She is preceded in death by her husband, Luis Navarro; her parents, Teodoro and Herlinda Saenz; a brother, Edwardo (†Olivia) Saenz; two sisters, Isaura and Hermila Saenz; two sisters in law, Alicia Bowie, Belia Villarreal; and a brother in law, Guadalupe “Guale” Navarro. Mrs. Navarro is survived by two sons, Robert (Sylvia) Navarro, Roy (Minerva) Navarro; a daughter, Belinda (Rick) Vargas, all of San Juan; seven grandchildren, Nancy Garcia, Bobby Navarro, Roland Navarro, O.J. Navarro, Norma Rocha, Rick Navarro, Ashly Vargas; 14 greatgrandchildren; a brother, Alonzo (Madeline) Saenz of McAllen; and five sisters, Maria S. Guzman of Chicago, IL, Isaura (†Eulalio) Guzman, Rafaela (Eleazar) Romero, Berta (Hector) Palacios and Rosalinda (Rick) Diaz, all of San Juan. The family would like to thank Dr. Alvaro Giraldo and the staff of IPH Hospice for the care given to Leonila. Visitation was held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service monday, June 27, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service took place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, at St. John Lutheran Church in San Juan. Interment followed at San Juan Cemetery. Funeral services were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
