PSJA racewalker signs with Cardinal Stritch University

PHARR - PSJA Thomas Jefferson T-STEM Early College HS Senior Amberly Melendez signed a letter of intent to race walk for Cardinal Stritch University in Wisconsin. Surrounded by her family, coaches, district administrators and friends she accepted the full scholarship provided by the university.
Amberly has been race walking since she was in 4th grade with the South Texas Walking Club led by Coach AC Jaime. During her time there, she has received five gold medals at the AAU Junior Olympics for the years 2009, 2010, 2013-15, where she also broke the national record for the 17-18 year old girls division by 17 seconds with a time of 14:54.64.
