While the Pharr Housing Authority Board’s legal team meets with the legal team representing former Director Fernando Lopez in an attempt to try and hash out a mediation during the next several weeks, hoping to avoid a costly lawsuit on all sides, the PHA has appointed an interim director – Noel De Leon. That action was taken by unanimous vote last Thursday at a special board meeting. De Leon started work the following day.
The mediation came about after both sides met in State District Court last week as part of a TRO and wrongful termination lawsuit filed on behalf of Lopez by his cocounsel – Gustavo Acevedo and “Ric” Godinez. Judge Luis Singleterry ordered the mediation, which is expected to last another two weeks before both sides are due back in court.
